Galveston, Tx // Rosenberg Library (& Star Wars)

If you can convince yourself there's such thing as a cool library, this would be one. Of all the years I've been visiting Galveston Island it's hard to believe I've never been in here. [The library opened in 1904, and in 1971 the Moody Memorial Wing opened expanding the library to give room for a children's library, a museum upstairs, etc. It is the oldest public library in Texas still in continuous operation!] Thought I'd share a couple photos of when we visited since I accidentally deleted all my other pictures of the cool surf shops and whatnot...waaah. Another day!!

It seems as though the ground floor of the library is newly renovated, and it contains the kids book section and computer lab. Props to the interior design firm that did this space! They had stringed bits of plastic ocean life through the first and second floor down through the center of the spiral staircase, into a little greenery area surrounded by concrete and finished with gorgeous crushed shell tile. Then there was this cool sculpture...

This concrete surface made with shells is dreamy!

Downstairs seating area. (Should've fixed that stray pillow before taking the photo...)

So anyway if you get a chance to visit, definitely do! There's a museum upstairs that I would've loved to visit if we weren't pressed for time, but I didn't leave empty handed. Check out the sweet pics below...

Coolest book ever made. All photos from Star Wars Art: Concept.

Super sweet, huh? I'm really into sci-fi art and futuristic dreamlands, but I won't lie and say I'm a highly educated fan. (I haven't even seen all of the original Star Wars..shhh.)
