seven side effects of soda

So everyone's heard about the horrible things that soda does to your body, right? Sometimes we don't all have the time to read big fancy science articles on every food that comes into question. It seems like every time we turn around one of our American food staples is under scrutiny...but how can we know for sure what's true?

The way I see it is that just because something has been around forever doesn't mean it isn't harming our bodies, and we should always be curious and open-minded about what we are fueling them with. Most times, when companies come up with a new food product that they think consumers will latch onto, they don't go through all the trouble to test the ingredients for safety right from the start. Usually they just use elements that are already present and accepted as safe in most foods at that time. That's why things are constantly being re-done and upgraded, because someone complained about a side effect, or they realized they had done something wrong. The first ingredient in Coke so long ago was cocaine for peet's sake! We as humans are constantly researching and learning more about the things we use everyday, which basically means there's so much we don't know.

All of this to say, we should pay attention to what we're eating and to what the latest gossip is about our food. Of course, you can't always trust what you hear, and that's why you have to use your best judgement, use everything in moderation, and always opt for the most natural choice. I feel like we can always trust that if it was put here on our planet with us from the beginning, than more than likely it's the safest option. This means that the exact opposite must be true; if it's manmade, considered a chemical, or a brand new development to the food industry to make things last longer, stay fresh for an unnatural amount of time, or make food take on another form than was originally intended, there's cause for concern in my book!

What do you think?
