jaimie's apartment progress

So I thought I'd give an update on how the new place is coming along...and nicely might I add. Well....slowly. But nicely. I think at 24, I am finally starting to find my design aesthetic. (Which you may not be able to decipher for another couple months due to my inherent laziness.) Throughout the years I've went through quite a few phases of design style appreciation, or I guess you could call it an 'uneducated jumble of flippant decor preference'. At any rate, I've slowly but surely been getting rid of the old particleboard IKEA pieces from sophomore year in college and begun collecting a sophisticated ensemble of furniture somewhere in the range between things I can barely afford and things I really like. Also trying to keep myself from buying things from the suburban retailers I find myself at day in and day out for work. i.e. Hobby Lobby, Target, HomeGoods...not that there's anything wrong with them, but I'd like to find awesome pieces with quality and/or a story and a heritage that will guarantee that I will still be fond of them in 5 or even 10 years. So here it is, my biggest diy venture at the present moment.

Don't mind the red couch with the peacock blue pillows...putting on a charcoal grey couch cover in 24-48 hours! Also don't mind the extremely cluttered desk top...or the pit bull watching Netflix.

I bought this stool for $15 on Craigslist and spray painted it with Rust-oleum in Aqua. Gold skull from Z Gallerie

More clutter!

Crate & Barrel planter, Target vase, & an authentic thrift store coral!

In LOVE with my new coffee table from the Pottery Barn/west elm outlet in San Marcos. I got it for $250, originally $349

This awesome dresser was given to me by my previous landlord...so much storage potential! And it's perfect for my hand-me-down record player from my brother

Pottey Barn TV console originally $899, bought on Craigslist for $300

I hope you enjoyed seeing my very in-progress household. More to come!
