diy wedding presents
I am very anti-registry when it comes to weddings. I think buying presents from the registry is not personal enough for me. I like to make something memorable for the bridge and groom. A recent one I made was REALLY easy. I made a canvas out of a couple of my co-worker and her (now) husband's engagement pictures.
What you need:
-modge podge ($10 at any craft store)
-foam brush ($1)
-8x10 photo canvas ($7 for 2 at any craft)
-any type of decoration for the sides. You can use colorful paper, scrap booking paper. (I used plastic fake diamonds because the bride really loves BLING)
-hot glue gun (you only need this if you are decorating with something other than paper)
-8x10 photo ($3 from walgreens.com)
You want to decorate your sides of the canvas first. I used a hot glue gun to glue the studs to all 4 sides of the canvas. I used my index finger to keep the spacing the same in between each one. If you want to use paper, just cut 4 pieces to fit the width of the canvas. Modge Podge the paper to canvas. Let it completely dry before you start the next step.
Next, you want to cut down the edges of the picture so they fit on the canvas. Paint modge podge on the canvas and lay the picture flat. Then you want to modge podge the top and edges. It will be scary at first to paint the modge podge on the photo because it looks like it will ruin the picture, but DON'T WORRY! It will dry clear. I do 2 coats of modge podge to get that "glossy" effect. Let it dry overnight.
These are so simple and easy to make but they make a big impression. I love them!
Here is another wedding present I made. I took a picture of the bride and groom during their first dance and wrote the lyrics of their first dance song around the picture.
